As of now, there are no verified reports confirming the arrest of Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), nor has there been any official confirmation regarding the alleged recovery of Sh12 million in cash from his possession.
Despite the absence of formal charges, Governor Wamatangi’s administration remains under intense scrutiny following multiple allegations of financial mismanagement.
Reports have surfaced citing irregular expenditures, including Ksh 11.25 million allocated to undelivered poultry and an additional Ksh 81.8 million directed toward questionable agricultural initiatives.
These disclosures have prompted calls from political leaders and stakeholders for thorough investigations into the county’s financial conduct.
In a recent statement, Governor Wamatangi revealed that Kiambu County lost an estimated Ksh10 billion in revenue over an eight-year period due to systemic fraud involving third-party revenue collection systems used by previous administrations.
In response, his government has launched a new digitized revenue collection platform designed to enhance transparency and curb further losses.
Although mounting allegations have increased public and political pressure on the governor’s administration, no arrest or seizure of cash has been officially acknowledged by the EACC or any credible enforcement agency.
