DHL Express has suspended all deliveries to U.S. consumers worth over $800 (approx. Ksh103,649) due to a surge in customs red tape under Donald Trump’s newly reimposed tariff regime.

The global logistics giant announced it will temporarily stop shipments from companies worldwide to U.S. buyers starting Monday, citing “significant increases in paperwork and regulatory complexity” at American customs.

The move deals a blow to international e-commerce businesses and small exporters, especially from developing economies, who rely on DHL’s network for fast, cross-border deliveries.

Trump’s tariff reset, part of his 2025 economic pivot, has revived “de minimis” scrutiny thresholds, complicating shipments previously cleared with minimal customs intervention.

DHL says operations will remain suspended “until further notice.”
